About the Job
This role is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Procurement Specialist. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for capital tooling for plastics and metal stamping.
You will oversee supplier pricing and cost structures to optimize capital budgets. Additionally, you will lead cost reduction initiatives through competitive tendering, negotiation, and identification of opportunities with existing and potential suppliers.
Your primary interface will be with selected suppliers, where you will develop and maintain effective relationships to enhance the supply chain and reduce lead times and inventory liabilities.
You will identify potential risks to supply continuity early and provide effective solutions to mitigate them. Collaboration and teamwork are essential skills in this role, especially in Abbott GPS initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage relationships with selected suppliers.
* Oversight of supplier pricing and cost structures.
* Lead cost reduction initiatives.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers and user departments.
* Identify and mitigate risks to supply continuity.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* NFQ Level 8 qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or related Engineering/Science discipline.
* A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role.
* Experience in plastic molding and/or tooling.
* Substantial procurement experience, including cost reduction initiatives and change implementation.
* Understanding of the injection mold tool build process and capital equipment purchasing.
