About Your Role
1. Provide macro-economic forecasts and analytical insights into key economic and policy indicators for the Eurozone and its countries/sub-regions, including Germany and peripheral economies. This involves forecasting, assessing macro indicators, analyzing government policies, interpreting data releases, and forming opinions on European policy directions, especially regarding the ECB.
2. Evaluate macroeconomic investment opportunities within the Eurozone and relative to the G4, contributing ideas to the asset management team.
3. Produce thematic research pieces.
4. Create a quantitative framework by developing and maintaining proprietary macroeconomic indicators for various economies.
5. Contribute to the Global Macro & SAA team with content for publications and the Capital Market Assumptions setting process.
6. Participate in wider Fidelity forums, including the Fixed Income Alpha call, Multi Asset Big Picture, and other global meetings.
7. Engage with internal clients, mainly PMs, providing insights on macro topics during calls and meetings.
8. Support marketing and asset growth initiatives through white papers and thought leadership content.
About You
1. Strong academic qualifications in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related fields, with experience as a macro-focused practitioner on sell or buy side.
2. Relevant experience covering G4 macro with a focus on the Eurozone.
3. Strong bilingual ability in an European language and English.
4. Proven track record in insightful economic analysis with investment implications, demonstrating original thinking and a big-picture perspective.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Willingness to travel internationally.
7. Strong teamwork skills for effective collaboration across the firm.
8. Excellent quantitative skills, including experience with Eviews, Matlab, or Python, and statistical tools.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with media and deliver thematic presentations to diverse clients.
Conduct Rule Responsibilities
The role involves adhering to FCA Senior Manager Conduct Rules, including acting with integrity, diligence, transparency with regulators, fairness to customers, and observing market standards. As a senior manager, additional responsibilities include ensuring effective control and compliance within the firm, overseeing delegated responsibilities, and disclosing relevant information to regulators.
This is a regulated role requiring enhanced background checks, including a Standard DBS check.
