By joining us, you will work daily with technical experts within our established Impact Assessment team which comprises over 170 staff across Ireland and the UK. We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, and everything we do aligns with our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
As we are a national team, we are flexible in terms of office location – this includes offices in Dublin, Cork and Galway as well as our flexible hybrid working model.
This position offers an opportunity to manage environmental inputs to large‑scale development projects that are transforming our infrastructure. These projects include:
* Energy generation projects – solar farms, onshore wind farms, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen
* Energy distribution and transmission projects
* Highway improvements and greenway projects
* Carbon capture pipelines
* Strategic national and regional rail projects
* Regeneration projects, including portside developments
* Developments within e‑commerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial/residential and industrial sectors
Responsibilities
* Provide Expertise: As Principal Environmental Consultant, manage environmental inputs to EIA Screening and Scoping reports, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Environmental Considerations Reports and supporting documents. Involve yourself across project life‑stages from early strategy development to scheme operation/maintenance.
* Ensure Quality: Apply a critical eye for detail to ensure deliverables meet the highest quality standards and comply with rigorous quality‑management procedures.
* Project Management: Apply project‑management skills to manage resources and budgets.
* Collaborate: Work as part of integrated design teams, identify environmental constraints, and propose mitigation and benefit‑delivery solutions.
* Client Contact: Manage client relationships and coordinate with internal supply teams.
* Growth: Promote AECOM’s environmental services to internal and external audiences and lead business‑development opportunities and associated proposal development.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (Master’s preferred) and an appropriate professional membership (Chartered Environmentalist preferred).
* Comprehensive EIA consultancy experience, with proven skills in managing the preparation of environmental reports and reviewing specialist chapters.
* Detailed understanding of Irish consenting regimes and environmental legislation.
* Ability to lead collaborative technical teams and coordinate specialist inputs.
* Project‑management skills, including programming, staff resource and budget management.
* Commitment to innovation and continuing professional development.
* Interest in line‑management duties and staff mentoring.
* Developing skills in leading business‑development opportunities.
* Efficient verbal and report‑writing skills, including technical reviewing and stakeholder engagement.
