Electrical Engineering Role
The Naval Service offers direct entry pathways to Electrical Engineering Officers.
About the Position:
* Design, procure, install and maintain power generation and distribution systems, navigation systems, communication systems, weapons systems, environmental systems and IT infrastructure.
* Critical member of the ships' engineering department during sea postings, responsible for electrical, electronic and control systems governing vessel manoeuvrability, defence and intelligence gathering.
* Leadership is a core competency; officers will be trained at the Naval College to ensure competence in military roles and responsibilities.
* Appointments onboard ships, ashore and potentially overseas with opportunities for project management, maintenance planning and research.
* Internal training courses and funded continual professional development in disciplines like Project Management, Engineering Master's programs and Health & Safety qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
* Be a citizen of the Irish State or have a legal entitlement to reside and work in Ireland for the period of appointment.
* Be of good character and satisfy any security clearance required during the recruitment process.
* Meet minimum standards of medical and physical fitness as assessed during the recruitment process.
* Be under 50 years old on the last day of the year of application.
* Hold a recognised Bachelor Degree (Honours) at level 8 or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a qualification deemed equivalent by the Minister for Defence.
