We are seeking a Junior Financial Accountant with a focus on General Ledger and Tax activities on behalf of our client in Dublin City Centre. This role supports day to day accounting operations and period end processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. The successful candidate will contribute to financial reporting, balance sheet integrity, tax compliance, and audit support, while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and ensuring adherence to internal controls. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as tax, treasury, legal, corporate governance, shared services, and consolidation teams. Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Financial Accounting Record and process general ledger transactions, including automated and manual journal entries Review and post accruals, adjustments, and period-end entries Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including follow-up on open items Perform intercompany accounting, including reconciliations and documentation Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Reporting & Compliance Assist with financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and, where applicable, local GAAP Prepare variance analysis of profit and loss and balance sheet accounts and support management reporting Support statutory and regulatory reporting requirements Prepare monthly reporting for assigned legal entities Tax & Audit Support Assist in the preparation of monthly tax provisions and supporting documentation Support preparation and filing of VAT returns Support preparation and filing of annual corporate income tax returns Provide information and documentation to auditors, tax authorities, and regulators Support annual statutory audit processes Controls & Process Improvement Perform and document internal control activities in line with company policies Liaise with tax, treasury, legal, corporate governance, and shared services teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of information Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in accounting processes and controls Undertake other general accounting-related tasks as required Preferred Skills & Experience Experience in general ledger accounting within a multinational or complex environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics is an advantage) Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability Proactive, flexible, and able to work to deadlines Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong team player with a collaborative mindset Qualifications Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent local qualification) At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience Ongoing or completed professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA) is an advantage
