Job Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist in Medical Oncology will provide expert care and support to patients with cancer, undergoing systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT). This includes patient and family education, serving as a clinical resource, maintaining a database of patients and their treatment outcomes, documenting procedures and treatments, participating in follow-up clinics and phone calls.
The CNS will work closely with the patient, medical team, nursing team, multidisciplinary team members to ensure evidence-based practice in delivering high standards of care. They will be responsible for acting as a point of contact for patients in the out-patient setting, providing telephone triage hotline service using a validated assessment tool (UKONS).
Required Skills And Qualifications
* A registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann or eligible to be so registered.
* Succesfully completed post registration programme verified by Quality Ireland relevant to Cancer Nursing at National Framework Level 8.
* 5 years full-time experience or aggregate time equivalent prior application plus career development plan.
