The Rediscovery Centre is seeking to recruit board members who have an understanding of and commitment to the values and objectives of the Rediscovery Centre and who will ensure it remains focused on its charitable purpose. This is an excellent opportunity to provide oversight and direction to a forward thinking organisation committed to a just transition to the circular economy and to catalysing positive climate action for a sustainable future.
At This Time, The Board Is Particularly Interested In Individuals With Recent And Relevant Experience In The Not-for-profit Sector And / Or Social Enterprises. Expressions Of Interest From Individuals With a Background In One Of The Below Areas Would Be Particularly Encouraged
Advocacy and Policy Expertise
Financial and / or Strategic Expertise
Experiential Development and Expansion
Proved experience in Community Engagement would also be beneficial.
This is a voluntary board position compliant with the Charities Regulator guidance on charity trusteeship.
General Duties Of Rediscovery Centre Board Member
Comply with the Rediscovery Centre's governing document and code of conduct
Ensuring the Rediscovery Centre is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit, in line with the Charity Regulators Code of Governance.
Acting in the best interest of the Rediscovery Centre
Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
Manage the assets of the Rediscovery Centre
Responsibilities Will Include The Following
Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
Contributing with insight, oversight, and experience to the strategic direction of the Rediscovery Centre
Policy formation and implementation as required
Essential Skills/Qualities Required For These Roles
A deep appreciation and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector
An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
Commitment to highest levels of corporate governance
It is not necessary for applicants to have prior experience of the Circular Economy or Environmental Sustainability. However, awareness of the circular economy, sustainability, climate justice or social justice is highly desirable.
Board Meetings
There will be a minimum of five board meetings and an additional review meeting each year. A a number of sub-committee meetings as may also be required on an annual basis. Meetings are held in the Rediscovery Centre or via Zoom.
