About the Employer:
The Civil Service Occupational Health Department (CSOHD) is a specialised business unit within the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform & Digitalisation. The CSOHD is made up of a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and administration staff committed to promoting the occupational health of civil servants across Ireland. With a skilled complement of a Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), two Occupational Physicians, three experienced Occupational Health nurses and six administrative staff, the unit delivers expert occupational health services nationally.
About the Role:
Reporting to the CMO, or another doctor nominated by the CMO, the Occupational Physician is responsible for the management/clinical governance of occupational health services within their designated departments/offices, including the management of occupational health nurse(s) who report to them.
About You:
Candidates must have on or before Tuesday 21st October 2025:
1.
a) Current registration or eligibility for registration in the Irish Medical Councils General Register of Medical Practitioners *Please note: Candidates who are successful in this competition will be required, prior to appointment, to be registered with the Irish Medical Council
and
b) A relevant post graduate qualification in Occupational Medicine obtained by examination e.g. Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine Ireland or Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK (Where the examination has already been passed but the qualification has not been conferred, documentary evidence will be required)
and
c) Entry on the Irish Medical Council's Register of Medical Specialists in Occupational Medicine (Candidates who can demonstrate they are working towards and expect to achieve Specialist Registration through the Specialist Registrar Training Scheme or via the alternative Specialist Division Registrar route within 2 years of appointment may also be considered)
