In this role, you will for take ownership of our data platform and infrastructure. You will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our databases and data warehouse, while setting standards and best practices for the wider team. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and platform ownership.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and operate production, development, and reporting databases (Postgres)Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines from various systems into SnowflakeManage and optimise Snowflake infrastructure, including performance and costReview and optimise SQL queries, data models, and workloads across the platformEnsure the data infrastructure scales with growing data volumes and usageOwn database and data warehouse security, including roles, permissions, and access controlsSet standards and best practices for data engineering, performance, and reliabilityProactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunitiesMentor and support other data engineersWork closely with analytics, engineering, and leadership on data strategyRequirements5+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or similar roleDeep expertise in SQL and relational databases (Postgres strongly preferred)Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (or similar cloud data warehouse)Proven experience designing and maintaining production-grade data pipelinesStrong understanding of database performance tuning and optimisationExperience managing data access, security, and governanceComfortable owning critical systems in a production environmentStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
