We are currently seeking a skilled and service-oriented Desktop Support Engineer to join our onsite technical support team in Cork. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical troubleshooting, working closely with end users, and maintaining reliable desktop infrastructure within a fast-paced corporate environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring that employees have seamless access to the tools and systems they need to perform at their best.
The Role
As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will provide onsite technical assistance across hardware, software, and network environments. You will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, manage endpoint devices, and support system upgrades and deployments.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide onsite second-line support for desktop, laptop, and mobile device issues.
* Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or macOS systems.
* Troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral issues (printers, docking stations, monitors, etc.).
* Support Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools.
* Manage user accounts and permissions (Active Directory / Azure AD).
* Image and deploy new devices using standardised build processes.
* Log, track, and resolve incidents using IT service management (ITSM) tools.
* Escalate complex technical issues to infrastructure or network teams as required.
* Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including device provisioning and access setup.
* Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset tracking.
What We're Looking For
* Degree, diploma, or certification in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
* 2+ years' experience in desktop or IT support environments.
* Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and/or macOS.
* Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
* Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
* Familiarity with IT ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* A hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
