The Alzheimer Society of Ireland
is recruiting a Day Centre Manager to lead the Day Centre service in Kilrush, reporting to the Operations Manager.
This is a permanent contract working 10 hours per week.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
Provide best-practice dementia-specific care to clients in the Day Centre, developing and implementing suitable holistic care plans in consultation with clients, carers/advocates, care workers and volunteers.
Manage and guide all staff required to run the centre; ensure clear roles, appropriate duties, staff/client ratios, and effective supervision of carers, administration staff, bus drivers and escorts.
Maintain health and safety, administration of the Day Centre, and proper recording of care plans and medications with safe storage.
Coordinate with Home Care Co-ordinators/PHNs regarding day/home care requirements; liaise with partners to promote services and ensure smooth service delivery.
Provide engaging activities for clients in a relaxed, homely environment; escalate nursing concerns to PHNs as needed.
Maintain and update records related to clients, staff, and volunteers; administer budgets, grants, and other income streams; ensure financial records are accurate.
Ensure induction and ongoing training for new staff and volunteers; conduct regular performance reviews and manage disciplinary matters as required.
Coordinate transport logistics (bus drivers) and ensure necessary maintenance and records for transport services.
Foster relationships with carers and families; provide information, support, and feedback regarding client wellbeing.
Ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations and safe medication administration; maintain safety equipment and premises, including fire and security systems.
Person Specification
Essential
Degree or equivalent (validated by NQAI) in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, or related field.
At least 5 years post-qualification experience in health/social care or voluntary sector.
At least 3 years of management experience in a similar role.
Experience working with people with complex needs in varied settings; knowledge of the voluntary sector, older people issues and dementia.
Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
Registered Nurse with An Bord Altranais or postgraduate qualification in Dementia or equivalent qualification.

Strong client focus with commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care; empathy and respect for individuals with dementia; good observational skills.
Management: ability to supervise, motivate, plan, and manage change; excellent organisational and financial skills; ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; understanding of relevant legislation (Health and Safety, Employment law) and Irish health system structure.
Computer literacy (MS Office) and reliability, flexibility, confidentiality, and a professional approach.
