The Ballyphehane Community Association has proudly served the local community since 1970. Located in the heart of Ballyphehane, the Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people of all ages. Through our partnerships with the HSE Community Work Department, local nurses, the HSE, and the Ballyphehane-Togher Community Development Project, we provide vital services including day care, accessible transport, and our growing Meals on Wheels programme.
We are committed to reducing social isolation, supporting independent living, and promoting overall well-being for our elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
Role Purpose
To assist in the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals as part of the Ballyphehane Community Association's Meals on Wheels service, supporting kitchen operations and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of meals in line with menu plans and dietary requirements.
· Support the Lead Cook in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment.
· Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
· Package meals for delivery and ensure presentation meets service standards.
· Work with volunteers to support efficient meal service and delivery.
· Maintain stock levels by monitoring ingredients and assisting with ordering and storage.
· Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
Additional Duties
· Welcome and support volunteers working in the kitchen.
· Assist with storage, and rotation of stock.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to service improvements.
Maintain basic records as required (e.g., temperatures, cleaning schedules).
Essential Qualities
· Enthusiasm for cooking and supporting older or vulnerable people through food.
· Ability to work as part of a small, dedicated kitchen team.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong awareness of hygiene and safety standards.
· Flexibility and willingness to assist across different kitchen tasks.
· Fluent English

Pay: From €13.86 per hour
