Here in Buttimer Engineering, we have an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in our project development and implementation process.
You will work closely with the Project Owners to support the delivery of projects.
Position Overview
Buttimer Engineering is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our project delivery team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial and contractual management of our engineering projects.
The role requires ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate budget forecasts and advise on cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project expenditure, variations, and value engineering opportunities to maximise cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Carry out commercial reviews of tenders prior to submission for engineering projects.
Prepare and administer contract documentation in line with project requirements.
Prepare and submit applications for payment for projects.
Support Project Owners in evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Support Project Owners in assessing and certifying subcontractor payments and prepare client applications for payment (AFPs) and ensuing timely certification of same.
Work closely with project owners to ensure cost and progress tracking is aligned with Project Budgets and Project Schedules.
Produce clear and timely commercial progress reports for Senior Management.
Identify risks and opportunities, advising management on cost implications.
Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors as required to support effective communication and project outcomes.
Provide commercial advice and support to project owners where required.
Ensure adherence on all projects regarding company commercial policy.
Maintain accurate project records in line with company commercial policy.
Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
5 – 10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role or similar, ideally within a similar industry.
Strong knowledge of contract frameworks (e.g. NEC, FIDIC or equivalent).
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, Project cost management tools.
Excellent analytical, numerical, and commercial awareness skills.
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
