As a seasoned cost estimator, you will be working alongside an experienced pre-construction team in Kildare and with their regional offices.
You will coordinate with bid teams, colleagues in the estimating department and in the wider Pre-construction team to manage and deliver cost estimates at various stages in scheme development, scope definition and design maturity to meet challenging timescales.
The role involves contributing to optioneering and feasibility assessments, value engineering proposals, liaising with bid and project teams representing a range of disciplines to develop and refine proposals and budget costs through to final target price estimates.
Liaising with clients, designers and other consultants, quantity surveyors and other third parties is also a key aspect of this position.
You will be responsible for organizing and administering tender documents, correspondence, enquiries and quotations.
This includes challenging and contributing to all aspects of the bid preparation and submission and investigating safe and cost-effective solutions.
Collecting and distributing feedback and maintaining awareness of latest techniques are also part of your responsibilities.
Preparation of cost estimates from first principles using Candy estimating software is a critical component of this role.
Organizing and participating in bid preparation and review meetings, preparing tender summary information and priced risk and opportunity registers, preparing and communicating estimate information for bid review meetings and for handover to project teams.
You will ensure organisation and approval for measurement and production of measured quantities from drawings or BIM models for incorporation in tender enquiries.
Maintaining up-to-date cost data and ensuring it is updated as required is also essential.
Attendance at mid/post tender interviews with the Client team on bids under consideration and production of handover documentation to Project Commercial Team on successful bids are further responsibilities.
This role requires developing and maintaining relationships with external Clients and Consultants.
Liaison and reporting to the corporate for compliance, incorporation and approval of corporate governance are additional duties.
Requirements for this position include a Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree or equivalent level qualification.
Suitable civil engineering project experience in management, engineering or commercial roles with contractors is also necessary.
Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine or water sectors, is a requirement.
Considerable variety in types of work and disciplines priced, with understanding of methods and typical production rates / outputs, is expected.
Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract and methods of measurement used in the Irish market is also required.
Leadership and management skills, experience of managing a team to achieve deadlines, expert commercial acumen and problem-solving skills, excellent client facing and supply chain facing skills, strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to perform multiple tasks at a high level of quality, ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment are essential qualities for this role.
Experience of Candy Estimating software is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
