With a proud history and an ambitious vision for the future, the FAI is committed to fostering excellence on and off the pitch, ensuring the game is inclusive, accessible, and a source of national pride.Purpose of the RoleThe Head of Strategic Projects & PMO will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of the FAI's most critical cross-organisational initiatives, ensuring alignment with our long-term strategy and transformation agenda. This role exists to create a disciplined project management environment, drive strategic execution, and support the FAI in achieving sustained organisational excellence and operational effectiveness.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the FAI Project Management Office (PMO), embedding best-practice methodologies, governance, and reporting standards.Oversee the delivery of major strategic and transformation projects, ensuring scope, timelines, risks, and outcomes are effectively managed.Support the COO and Senior Leadership Team in translating strategic priorities into executable programmes and measurable workstreams.Develop and maintain enterprise project dashboards, performance metrics, and executive reporting for internal and external stakeholders.Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure project alignment, clarity of roles, and seamless communication across departments.Manage project risk frameworks, escalation pathways, and decision-making processes to ensure informed and timely leadership oversight.Build internal project management capability through tools, training, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.Oversee project procurement, resource planning, budgeting, and vendor engagement where required.Ensure all PMO processes reflect high standards of governance, compliance, and operational integrity.Person SpecificationA strategic thinker with strong organisational discipline and a continuous improvement mindset.A highly collaborative leader able to influence, motivate, and build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.A proactive problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and delivers consistently high-quality outcomes.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear, actionable plans.Experience and QualificationsEssential:Experience in project management, programme delivery, PMO leadership, or organisational transformation.Proven track record leading large, cross-functional projects within complex organisations.Demonstrated experience establishing or operating within a PMO environment.Desirable:Experience in sport, public sector, non-profit, or similarly regulated organisations.Background in organisational change, governance, or strategic planning.Experience with enterprise portfolio management tools and reporting systems.Formal project management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, or equivalent).Skills & Professional KnowledgeStrong project planning, prioritisation, and execution capabilities.Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.Robust understanding of governance, risk management, and organisational performance frameworks.Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Expertise in project management software, dashboards, and digital tools.CompetenciesCore Competencies1.
