Job Description
The Contract Manager shall be responsible for supporting with the management of the M500 Contract including the fulfilment of the role of the Authority Representative. If required, the role holder shall also assume responsibility for the management of the Consultancy and Advisor Contracts. The role holder shall ensure that the appropriate internal structures are put in place to ensure that the contract(s) are managed to the satisfaction of the client. The role holder will oversee the development and structuring of a contract management team, taking into consideration the type of contract being used and the different requirements during the Construction and Operations phases, The Contract Manager shall be responsible for dealing with daily contract issues to ensure ongoing and seamless delivery. The Contract Manager shall work with other functions and sub-functions within the client Directorate to ensure that third parties comply with contractual requirements, this shall include the PMO, Sustainability, Safety, Information Management, Land, Property and External Relations, Design and Engineering and Operations and Sponsorship.Where managing the M500 Contract, the Contract Manager will be required to oversee the Project Delivery Partner (in their role as NEC 4 PM for M400 Contracts) and work collaboratively with them to ensure the M500 Contract is managed effectively and that MetroLink is delivered to meet the projects objectives. The Contract Manager responsible for management of the M500 Contract will develop a plan and strategy to ensure the continuity and transfer of knowledge in relation to the M500 contract as it moves through it phases. To note that this Contract Manager overseeing the M500 Contract will likely report in the M500 Delivery Director (Role during the delivery of the M500 Contract.
QualificationsMinimum Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area e.g., engineering, supply chain, procurement, quantity surveying, business, or related disciple.MSc or equivalent in a related discipline would be advantageous10+ years' experience in contract management with at least 5 years' experience leading contract management activities across the project lifecycle through to completion in high value metro rail or similar projectAdditional requirements: Experience of large PPP contracts and the procurement of sameA proven track record of dealing with commercial agreements and legal awareness of contract risks, including experience of drafting complex and bespoke contract terms and commercial principles including supplies, services and framework agreementsTangible experience of driving best practice in technical activities, processes, policies and standardsIn-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural / engineering / construction sectorsExperience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and providing guidance to support project delivery and reportingKnowledge of quality management and process improvement practices and systems is desirable, preferably within the construction sectorSkillsThe Contract Manager will be required to possess the following skills:Strong ability managing contractor relationships, at executive and operational levelsAbility to manage technical outputs to drive efficiency Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skillsAbility to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service
