About the Role
We have a vacancy on our Board. This is an opportunity to serve the community while building your own skills and network. We are keen to ensure a gender balance and diversity on our Board and would particularly encourage women to apply.
Responsibilities
Providing input to the strategic direction of the Credit Union and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings.
Policy development and implementation as required.
Qualifications (Essential/Desired)
An appreciation and knowledge of the Credit Union sector.
An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values.
Commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance.
Knowledge of IT Systems and security would be a useful skillset to add to the board.
Time Commitment
The Board meets ten times a year, approximately two hours on a weeknight. We encourage in-person meetings but also provide remote joining. The Board also holds up to two strategic planning sessions per year, usually a full day on a Saturday. Board members are required to take a role on at least one subcommittee. There are different levels of commitment depending on the committee, some meet monthly, some less frequently. Board members are required to do mandatory yearly training in Ethics, GDPR and Money Laundering. Board members also support the Credit Union in its various community activities.
