One of our clients is currently hiring for a Head of Sales to join their team. This is a senior leadership role with real influence. As Head of Sales, you'll shape and lead
the company's sales strategy, working closely with the Managing Director to drive growth
across existing accounts and new markets. In the early phase, you'll stay hands-on with key clients and major opportunities. As the business continues to scale, you'll build out the sales function including hiring, developing and leading a high-performing sales team. It's a role for someone who enjoys being close to customers, understands technical products, and wants to leave a visible mark on a growing business.
What You'll Be Doing
At a high level, you'll own the full sales function from strategy through to execution.
Strategy & Growth
* Develop and deliver the annual sales strategy aligned with company goals
* Review and improve the current sales pipeline and processes
* Identify new markets, customers and strategic partners
* Recover and re-engage dormant accounts
* Provide market feedback on pricing, service levels and industry trends
Client & Commercial Leadership
* Manage and grow key customer relationships
* Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts
* Lead complex sales, tenders and contract negotiations
* Support customers with technical input and solution design
* Represent the business at trade shows, site visits and industry events
Team & Operations
* Manage and develop the Sales Administrator role
* Recruit, train and lead future sales team members
* Set goals, KPIs and performance standards
* Produce monthly sales reports and lead review meetings with the MD
* Coach and develop sales capability across the team
Hands-On Activity
* Regular customer site visits (minimum 12 days per month)
* Support service delivery where needed, including coordination with site crews
* Input into marketing content, promotional material and product launches
What We're Looking For
This is a senior, technical sales role. You'll need to be commercially sharp and comfortable operating at both strategic and practical levels.
Essential
* Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Senior-level sales experience in a technical or engineering environment
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems (conveyors highly desirable)
* Proven track record of driving growth and winning major accounts
* Experience selling plant, machinery or industrial solutions
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Comfortable presenting at senior decision-maker level
* Strong analytical and reporting skills
Nice to Have
* Experience building and leading sales teams
* Exposure to long-term strategic sales planning
* Experience pricing technical products or services
* Background in using CRM systems and sales data to inform decisions
