BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST OF PERMANENT FULL-TIME COMMUNITY TEAM LEADER ORCHARD SERVICES, GORT, CO.
GALWAY Ref: ***** Location: Orchard Centre, Gort, Co Galway

The role: The vision of the Orchard Services, Gort is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community.
Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences.
We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships and relationships

We wish to recruit an innovative, creative, motivated, visionary person who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision.
We are looking for an individual who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individuals they support and are open to change and aim to provide a safe, secure environment where individuals will participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that fulfil their potential and expectations with opportunity for new experiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a person-centred service.
The Team leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the staff team and the programme while providing leadership and supervision at a local level.

It is the Team Leader's responsibility to ensure that the life of each individual reflects the organisation's core values and the personal outcome measures by supporting each individual's development in the areas of

•Dignity and respect

•Promoting Independence in all areas of their life

•Developing friendships/relationships

•Making choices and having responsibility

•Making a contribution to their local community

•Community Networking

Reporting To: Team Manager/Service Coordinator

Responsible To: Area Manager

Qualifications: The recognised professional qualification for social care is as follows:

•HETAC/NQAI BA (HONS) in Applied Social Studies (Disability)/Social Care.

•Candidates must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30th November ****.
View approved qualifications on > •A management qualification is also desirable

Candidates must have a full clean manual Irish driving licence.
A full Class B Driving Licence to enable the successful candidate to drive the transport that is assigned to the service is essential.

Experience: The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with people with intellectual disability and the management and supervision of a staff team.

Previous experience of community networking and supporting individuals to partake in activities in their local community, goal setting and programme implementation is desirable.

Skills: Candidates must demonstrate leadership and planning skills and the ability to set goals, put into action and follow through.

Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.

IT skills are an essential requirement of the post.

Working Hours: A 39-hour working week based on a Monday – Friday 5-day duty roster.
Appointee will be required to work early mornings, late evenings, and occasional split shifts, however sleep-ins and weekend duty commitment is not required for this post.

On Call commitment is a requirement of this post.

Annual Leave: 23 days per annum.

Remuneration: Department of Health Social Care Leader salary scale (01/08/2025) €56,351 x 6 increments - €65,807 per annum.

Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and sleep-in when worked.

Tenure: This post is permanent, full-time and pensionable
