If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applyingExperience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilitiesBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related fieldKnowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipmentExperience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)Demonstrated experience with industry CFD software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent, CFX, OpenFOAM, 6SigmaDCX, or equivalent)Experience performing HVAC or thermal system CFD analysis(Desirable) Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production(Desirable) Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents(Desirable) Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing(Desirable) Experience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issues(Desirable) Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) with a relevant UK/Irish institution, or equivalent international professional registration (e.g. EUR ING)(Desirable) Familiarity with European/UK building codes and standards (e.g. BS EN, CIBSE guides, Building Regulations Part L)(Desirable) Master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline(Desirable) Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, C++, or similar)(Desirable) Experience with free-cooling, water-side economiser, and indirect evaporative cooling system design(Desirable) Prior consulting or project management experienceWhat the job involvesThe Global Engineering Strategy team (GES) is looking for a results-oriented, inventive Senior Mechanical Engineer with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) expertise to drive thermal modelling and cooling system design for new and expanding data centre developments across EMEAYou will lead CFD modelling and analysis for data centre cooling systems, providing simulation-driven insights that inform mechanical design decisions, optimise airflow and thermal performance, and support the delivery of energy-efficient facilitiesYou will sit within the Design Engineering team of the broader Data Center Engineering (DCE) organisationYou will work with our Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Operations, Commissioning, Pre-Construction, and Environmental/Sustainability teams on design strategy and implementation across the EMEA region, serving as the CFD subject matter expert - providing detailed simulation reports and specifications that shape our engineering strategy for next-generation data centre designsAs well as providing support and mentorship within the wider DCE engineering community, while offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions and having fun doing itProvide creative engineering solutions balanced with high quality and customer focusWork as part of a global team to accomplish our goalsPerform technical design and simulation work across multiple EMEA regionsLead through ambiguity, proposing and validating multiple design approachesUnderstand the best practices for data centre mechanical system designsMentor junior engineers in CFD workflows and simulation best practicesPerforming CFD models on innovative cooling designs, including airflow distribution, thermal performance, and cooling efficiency studiesSelecting and validating appropriate simulation methodologies for data centre thermal environmentsPerforming building energy use calculations for determining capacity and type of cooling system requiredPerforming water efficiency use calculations to determine quantity of water needed on siteProviding reports to senior leadership on simulation results, including clear visualisation and interpretation of dataWorking with global ME teams to achieve alignment of design and CFD modelling standardsDriving process improvements across the organisation, including development of automation scripts and tools to improve throughputSupporting rollout of new cooling strategies and design standardsCollaborating with other DCE teams to assess how cooling designs and products can be deployed across various site development projectsAbility to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
