Wastewater Technician Role Overview
The ideal candidate will oversee a bundle of wastewater treatment plants and pump stations, with occasional travel within the locality and to our head office as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate processes and equipment to ensure optimal plant performance and compliance with contractual requirements.
* Perform manual operational duties, including assisting with bulk deliveries to and from the plant.
* Calibrate and test plant equipment, alarms, and instrumentation in accordance with CMMS, vendor recommendations, and contractual requirements.
* Complete all planned maintenance in accordance with CMMS and record completion accordingly.
* Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and electrical issues, applying good working principles.
* Respond promptly to plant/equipment failures, undertake repairs or replacements as needed, and record actions in CMMS.
* Maintain treatment facility buildings, including cleaning, landscaping, grassed areas, hedging, and hardstanding areas.
* Suggest improvements to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency in collaboration with line managers.
* Ensure all work is performed accurately and diligently.
* Adhere to health & safety, ethical, and quality standards, both legislative and company-specific.
* Work with the operations management team to implement contractual and company goals.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
* FETAC qualified or equivalent wastewater treatment plant operator.
* 2-5 years of experience in wastewater or water process operations is preferred.
* Flexibility to work outside normal hours and respond to urgent site needs.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
* Some knowledge of the Irish language is advantageous.
* Strong technical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Knowledge of PMS and CMMS systems is a plus.
* Effective time management and communication skills.
* Familiarity with wastewater laboratory procedures is beneficial.
* Excellent oral and written reporting skills.
* Understanding of quality, environmental, and safety management systems.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, and MS Office.
* Knowledge of regulatory aspects in the wastewater industry.
* Valid full clean driver's license.
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
