Quality Freight Group is long established company with offices across Ireland, in Northern Ireland and The Netherlands and part of the International Freight Company, Fracht Group.
The role of Technical Manger is to manage a fleet of 22 bulk trailers, 20ft, 30ft & 40ft,all sites including Dublin, Cork Ballina & Belfast.
To ensure optimal utilisation, including maintenance and control to manage the full bulk and non-bulk fleet.
The Technical Manager duties and responsibilities will also include technical assistance on specialised bulk deliveries, compliance and liability in accordance with key organisational strategies.
Responsibilities:
• Excellent knowledge of current legislation in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Liaise and communicate with government and legal entities (RSA & Dept of Transport) in matters relating to compliance.
• Analysing and advising on trailer design specification and suitability to meet current and future capacity needs, making sure all assets are fully utilised.
• Availability to travel nation-wide, overseas travel may be required.
• Driver training and coaching, regular spot checks, planned site visits on a periodic planned basis, ensuring health & safety measures and procedures are been followed.
• Check all haulage contractors have current and valid licences and insurance.
• Evaluate each and every chassis routinely, monitor trackers.
• Work with suppliers and hauliers to arrange schedule and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Ensuring round the clock availability of the trailer fleet in good technical order.
• Arrange and log all six week chassis inspection and prioritise repairs and chassis off roads.
• Manage and develop purchase PO system and introduce job cost system for our depot mechanics.
• Monitor and control maintenance & repair spend, sourcing providers, suppliers and parts. Manage outside suppliers to they work on our job cost system.
• Evaluate new builds or refurbishment requirements, occasional oversees travel to view trailer builds.
• Work closely with transport staff, depot staffand management, attend all transport meetings.
• Sourcing and vetting of hauliers and subcontractors.
• Monthly reports.
Knowledge & Experience:
It is desirable but not essential that the successful candidate will have experience managing a similar fleet size, holding both a Current Transport Manager Licence, and a current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) and C and CE Licence. You will have excellent Microsoft skills – Word - Excel.
You will be a self-starter, who is able to work on your own initiative and should possess excellent communication and negotiating skills. You will demonstrate a consistent record in utilising good planning and organisation skills, that deliver positive internal customer outcomes and that help create a positive team environment.
