Role
Fire Safety Engineer – secondment position. The role is partially office‑based and partially on site, reporting directly to the Senior Asset Planning Engineer.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Senior Asset Planning Engineer for prioritisation and identification of sites for fire safety systems.
Conduct fire risk assessment surveys on existing process‑site buildings to identify deficiencies in Building Regulations compliance.
Review fire risk assessment surveys carried out by others and devise a fire safety strategy to bring the building up to Building Regulations compliance and statutory legislation standards.
Scope remediation works required to bring the building to Building Regulations and statutory compliance standards.
Be competent in the BCAR process.
Be competent in fire prevention, fire detection, fire suppression and fire safety training.
Audit completed fire safety system remedial works on site.
Play a key role in stakeholder management with internal and external stakeholders.
Perform other duties related to work and asset management as required by the client.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant engineering or scientific qualifications to degree level or a recognised Fire Safety qualification.
Minimum seven years’ experience in fire safety systems, planning, design and statutory compliance of fire safety systems.
Experience in sign‑off of Fire Safety Systems to demonstrate statutory compliance with Building Regulations, Fire Certificates, BCAR, etc.
Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and statutory compliance with respect to fire safety systems and legalisation.
Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Proven track record in dealing with complex issues proactively and in a timely manner, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
