Due to exceptional growth in demand for our services we are currently recruiting for a Principal Consultant with a track record of identifying and implementing sustainability, low carbon and climate resilient solutions across a range of sectors, from business to infrastructure, to join our Carbon and ESG (C&ESG) practice.
You will support project teams in to deliver a range of ESG, climate change and sustainability projects across a range of sectors for an array of different clients from multi-national firms to infrastructure providers. You will also support the senior leaders in the Carbon and ESG (C&ESG) Practice and in AECOM's wider Environment & Sustainability Business Unit to grow this service area, particularly in Ireland.
The background:
Our C&ESG practice has a well-deserved reputation with FTSE100 and Fortune500 clients, governments, financial institutions, infrastructure owners and operators for Net Zero Resilience and ESG technical advisory services. We support clients to understand how future climate impacts and the transition to net zero needs to be considered at a project, business, sectoral and regional level. We produce robust carbon footprints as well as reduction plans and routemaps for enterprises, projects and products as well as supporting climate change risk assessment and resilience and adaptation planning for infrastructure assets, businesses, cities, and urban master plans.
We also help clients with net zero planning, risk assessment, strategy development, project preparation, capacity-building, and reporting to support their ESG programmes. Our work provides clients with greater confidence though informed decision making, business planning and operation of major projects, individual assets, multinational portfolios, and cities. The practice works across a wide range of sectors including highways, rail, aviation, power (including large scale carbon capture), water utilities and urban regeneration, industrials, manufacturing, FMCG, chems/pharmas, and financial services.

Here's what you'll do:
Trusted Partner
* Build and maintain positive, long-term client relationships across Ireland.
* Act as a "go-to" specialist on carbon, climate, and ESG within the Ireland AECOM business.
* Strengthen the company's position as a leader in carbon, climate, and sustainability strategies for infrastructure and large-scale regeneration in Ireland, the UK, and across EMEA.
Expertise
* Manage and deliver technical work across a range of climate and ESG projects, including sustainability strategy, GHG and climate risk assessment, and net zero strategy.
* Support the CCSR practice leadership in identifying and securing new opportunities.
* Provide technical guidance to colleagues and contribute thought leadership across industry networks.
Managing and Delivering
* Oversee tasks and projects with responsibility for technical quality, financial management, and timely delivery.
* Balance multiple priorities by working across several projects and proposals simultaneously, including ESG, climate assessment, and net zero strategies.
* Prepare costed proposals, bids, and supporting business development materials.
Developing and Growing
* Deliver on the ambitious business plan by growing market share in ESG, climate assessment, and sustainability through winning work with both new and existing clients in Ireland, the UK, and EMEA.
* Develop talent within the team by mentoring junior staff and supporting colleagues in upskilling on climate change and sustainability.
* Contribute to building internal capacity and expertise to position the team at the forefront of ESG and sustainability advisory services.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what's possible?
Here's what we're looking for:
* Proven track record in winning and delivering sustainability, climate appraisal, and ESG strategies in Ireland, the UK, and internationally.
* In-depth understanding of current climate change, sustainability, and ESG issues, frameworks, and reporting standards.
* Extensive experience in project management and business development, with evidence of successful outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience in facilitating stakeholder engagement workshops and events.
* Recognised industry profile, with a history of presenting at conferences and contributing to professional journals.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree (BSc) or equivalent in environment, sustainability, or a science/engineering discipline (a higher degree such as MSc or PhD desirable).
