Reed Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for a permanent Cook for our client based in Lisburn This role offers you job Security/Stability - Guaranteed steady income & Employee Benefits Salary: £13.50-£14.00 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week Working Hours: Monday-Wednesday: 8am-3.30pm Thursday: 8am-3pm Friday: 8am-3.30pm Role Overview Reporting to the Café Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high‑quality food while maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene.
A key element of this role is supporting and mentoring team members with learning disabilities, helping them develop skills, confidence, and independence within a professional catering environment.
Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations Prepare, cook, and present meals and baked goods to a consistent, high standard.
Assist with menu planning and contribute creative ideas for specials, seasonal dishes, and events.
Monitor portion control, stock rotation, and food waste to ensure efficient kitchen performance.
Maintain accurate kitchen records including temperature logs and allergen information.
Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, safety, and environmental health regulations.
Manage deliveries and ensure proper storage of all ingredients.
Essential NVQ Level 2 Catering and Hospitality (or equivalent, e.g.
City & Guilds).
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety procedures including COSHH and HACCP.
Excellent IT skills.
Understanding of the barriers experienced by people with learning disabilities.
A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and flexible approach.
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Desirable Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards it).
