Occupational Health and Safety Professional
Location: Cavan, Ireland
This role involves working across the organisation and the day-to-day management of a busy manufacturing site. The successful candidate will provide administrative, audit and practical support to the health and safety manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with safety promotion through record keeping, result sharing and ensuring a visible presence in the workplace.
* Liaising with consultants and occupational health professionals as required.
* Conducting fire safety risk assessments and liaising with fire consultants on equipment and replacement.
* Assessing new products and processes, including recommending and trialling new personal protective equipment and assessing material safety data sheets.
* Managing first aid and spills, including assessing equipment and systems for suitable training and equipment.
* Performing risk assessments, including reviewing procedures and queries, and recommending measures and solutions.
* Organising and facilitating safety committee meetings, and regular communication and consultation with representatives.
* Investigating accidents and identifying training opportunities, as well as taking corrective and preventative action.
Requirements:
* Level 7/8 qualification in occupational health and safety or engineering with additional training/experience in occupational health and safety management.
* Good computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
* Organised individual with attention to detail.
* Ability to work in both factory and office environments.
* High level communication and observational skills.
* Collaborative problem solver.
* Reliable, proactive and competent communicator.
