Overall Purpose of the Role The Dietitian will be responsible for managing the nutritional care of dialysis patients.
Working closely with the Staff Physician and the Beacon Renal multidisciplinary team, the role will deliver a high-quality, patient-centred dietetic service.
This is a part-time, fixed-term maternity leave cover position for 14 months, based in one of our satellite dialysis clinic, Beacon Renal Sandyford.
The working pattern is flexible.
Role Summary Dietitian Fixed-Term Contract (14-month maternity cover) Part-Time: 2530 hours per week Salary: DOE, aligned with scale Key Responsibilities and Deliverables Assess patients diets and lifestyles and provide appropriate dietary treatment and advice upon admission to Beacon Renal.
Manage nutritional interventions, ranging from specific dietary restrictions (e.g.
potassium and phosphate) to weight management and nutritional support to improve dietary adequacy.
Improve patients quality of life by providing practical dietary advice that meets nutritional requirements without compromising patient safety.
Manage the nutritional care of renal patients through comprehensive assessment and ongoing monitoring.
Support optimal medical and nutritional outcomes, aiming to prevent nutrition-related complications and disease progression.
Deliver nutritional services to maximise patients nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes.
Assess patients understanding of the relationship between diet and kidney disease and provide education on its impact on treatment and safety.
Provide tailored education to patients, families, and carers regarding nutritional status, adequacy measures, results, and nutrition-related laboratory parameters.
Complete nutritional assessments and progress notes for all chronic renal patients in line with established guidelines.
Accurately document all relevant information in medical records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff regarding patients nutritional outcomes and concerns.
Monitor patient adherence to, and response to, nutrition therapy.
Participate in multidisciplinary care planning programmes and patient review meetings.
Engage in at least one annual clinical audit, with the topic pre-approved by the Lead Clinician and Unit Doctor, in line with quality improvement requirements.
This will form part of the annual performance review.
The Ideal Candidate Holds a minimum of a BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Has at least 2 years experience in clinical nutrition as a Dietitian (open to Basic Grade and Senior Dietitians).
Is registered with CORU.
Demonstrates knowledge of renal nutrition.
Has completed, or is willing to complete, the INDO Renal Nutrition course and/or the BDA Renal Course.
Shows a commitment to continuous professional development in renal nutrition.
