About this Role
Norfund is seeking a dedicated Environmental & Social Manager/Associate Manager to join their dynamic team in Oslo for a 12-month fixed-term period.
This pivotal role involves ensuring that sustainable development goals are integrated into Norfund projects within the Scalable Enterprises portfolio.
The successful candidate will work under the E&S Director for Scalable Enterprises, collaborating with investment teams and stakeholders.
Key tasks include evaluating E&S risks in projects and ensuring compliance with international standards.
The E&S Manager/Associate Manager will also lead negotiations to integrate sustainability requirements into investment agreements, regularly monitor and review project compliance, and represent Norfund at various industry forums to promote E&S risk management.
Responsibilities
Collaborate in teams and support project managers on investment projects in Scalable Enterprises – Funds, Agribusiness and Manufacturing.
Assess environmental, social, and human rights risks and impacts of direct and indirect investments during due diligence.
Negotiate and integrate sustainability requirements into investment agreements.
Monitor investments against agreed E&S requirements and follow up on E&S Action Plans.
Support clients in developing their E&S management systems through knowledge transfer and training.
Work closely with Norfund's E&S specialists and internal stakeholders to continuously improve internal systems and procedures.
Cooperate with co-investors and European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI) on E&S risk management.
Represent Norfund at external meetings, industry events, and forums on E&S risk management.
Requirements
Advanced degree, preferably Master's, in environmental science, engineering, or occupational health and safety, or social science.
5 years+ of professional experience (7 years+ for Manager level) in E&S assessments or relevant industry experience.
Good understanding of international standards, such as IFC Performance Standards and WB EHS Guidelines.
Subject-matter expertise in environment, hydrology, biodiversity, land-related issues, OHS, human rights, or labour rights is an advantage.
Familiarity with certification systems, e.g., ISO *****, ISO *****, SA****, is beneficial.
