Position Overview
This role requires a strong foundation in Materials Science and Engineering, coupled with extensive experience in Coatings technologies. Experience in other biomedical coatings and surface modification techniques is also desirable.
Our core processes are Titanium plasma coating and hydroxyapatite coating applications. As the Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and advancing our thermal coating technologies to enhance process performance and provide technical leadership for our Coatings strategy.
What you will do:
1. Develop detailed understanding of best practice in product/process performance within the Medical devices industry.
2. Develop support network of key divisional/corporate leaders, academic and supplier partners to enhance understanding of product manufacture and quality.
3. Drive high levels of employee engagement through a highly effective support structure implemented for all engineers.
4. Develop technical solutions to complex technical problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
5. May lead design, development, testing & refinement of system, sub-system & component.
6. Under general supervision, plans, conducts and supervises assignments.
7. Reviews progress and evaluates results.
8. Recommends changes in procedures.
9. Operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
10. Reviews progress with management.
11. Serve as technical advisor to engineering personnel.
What you will need:
1. Level 8 Honours Degree in an Engineering discipline.
2. Advanced Degree desired, ideally Masters, Black Belt or PhD.
3. Minimum of 8 years manufacturing experience.
4. Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Senior Staff or equivalent.
5. Excellent communication and influencing skills with both internal and external agents.
6. Capable of technically leading a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment.
7. Demonstrable excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
8. Demonstrable ability to work autonomously.
9. Demonstrable ability to lead significant projects and initiatives.
10. A team player, with a flexible approach.
11. Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances.
12. Confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.
