Role Title: Trainee Accountant

Purpose of this role
The successful candidate will be initially involved in preparing the day‑to‑day activities of the Reinsurance Finance team including ownership of bank reconciliations, monthly control accounts and investment reporting. The role will evolve as part of the training contract to include other finance aspects such as IFRS statutory and regulatory reporting, technical standards training, investment performance analysis and other operational requirements. This is a key financial control function. Attention to detail while achieving set deadlines are essential to success in this role. Full study support will be provided.
Key Contribution Areas
* Preparation of monthly net asset value (NAV) and profit and loss (P&L) movement analysis for investment funds.
* Preparation of expense approvals and payment runs in line with monthly calendar.
* Preparation of monthly expense reporting and quarterly group reporting.
* Preparing monthly control accounts, including bank accounts for each of the legal entities we manage.
* Assist in the resolution of any queries raised by internal and external audit in a timely manner as well as involvement in the year end financial statements/audit process.
* Providing support and cover across the Reinsurance Finance Team as required.
* Support the Reinsurance Finance team in respect of on‑going Finance projects and queries raised as required.
* Working on continuous improvement projects as identified by the Reinsurance Finance Team.

Functional Or Technical Knowledge And Skill Required
* Recent graduate with a third level qualification, Accountancy, Finance, Business is preferable.
* Ambition to obtain professional accountancy qualification (ACCA)
* Computer literate – Proficient in MS Excel and Word
* Experience of SAP S4 Hana or BPC (Accounts system) or other General Ledger packages an advantage but not required.
