Job Overview:
The Bank Division Head of Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions main responsibility is the compliance with any transaction monitoring requirements on a day-to-day basis. In addition, the Bank Division Head of Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions is responsible for maintaining workflows, procedures and guidelines for the transaction monitoring and screening operations for Europe and Americas. The successful candidate will report directly into the CBN Managing director.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure that the Global Banks are compliant with any transaction monitoring requirements on a day to day basis;
* Globally managing those responsible for daily operational activities, in relation to transaction monitoring and sanctions, ensuring timely and adequate operational execution;
* Set the framework for monitoring of transactions coming into and out of the Banks for suspicious activity;
* Manage and maintain workflows, procedures and guidelines for the Transaction Monitoring and Screening operations for the Banks globally;
* Provide relevant training to Transaction Monitoring and Screening staff globally;
* Lead and drive improvement initiatives and manage an efficient process while providing continuous effective risk management and control;
* Design effective planning and control, including periodic reporting on KPI and KRI reporting on operational activities relating to Transaction Monitoring and Screening activities globally for the Banks;
* Ensure regulatory and best practice developments in Transaction Monitoring and Screening are identified and changes are implemented;
* Together with the Operational Control Manager create, maintain and develop an integral business control framework for transaction monitoring and sanctions
* Optimize transaction monitoring system and scenario based detection rules;
* Work directly with Regulators as required;
* Analysing possible patterns based on the results of the monitoring and screening process in order to gain a better insight in the risk profile of our client base.
About You:
* 5-10 years' experience, ideally within the banking industry;
* Bachelor in Law, Business Administration, or a related/equivalent discipline;
* Good understanding of the Anti Money Laundering and Sanctions Act and European equivalent legislation;
* Strong understanding of AML/CFT risks and the controls used to manage them;
* Experience with proven track record driving change in a large, fast paced and complex financial services organization;
* Significant experience in the legal and regulatory requirements associated with Transaction Monitoring and Screening;
* Experience in establishing or enhancing a transaction monitoring process or system;
* Outstanding organizational skills;
* Ability to deal with sensitive, highly confidential information;
* Ability to manage expectations upwards and downwards, and influence staff at all levels, is required;
