He/she will oversee management/maintenance,recreational/commercial use and future development of Waterways Irelandinfrastructure within the Erne System and/or other areas, as required. The SeniorEngineer will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the RegionalDepots at Portora and Drumboory and will engage with Operations Stores to supportthe development, procurement and purchasing of goods and services.The successful applicant will be required to manage the resources of the ErneSystem including, financial, operational staff and waterway assets and he/she willalso be required to manage consultants/contractors working on Waterways Irelandproperty for implementation of new or refurbishment projects. The successfulapplicant will also be required to coordinate with user groups for facilitation of events,and to work in partnership with third parties and local interests to manage anddevelop the waterways for increased recreational use.The successful applicant will also be part of our client's Response Team and will be required to provide out of office service on a rota basis.This duty will attract a separate remuneration.RequirementsPossess a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or an equivalent qualificationwhich qualifies the candidate to apply for chartered membership of a relevantprofessional engineering institution (ICE / IEI).Possess a minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification experience in thedesign or construction of civil / structural engineering projects, at least 2 of whichshould have been in an operational environmentHold a current driving licence and possess access to a form of transport which willpermit travel throughout Ireland and ensure that the person can supervise worksspread over a wide area.Possess knowledge and experience of the key issues involved in the field ofCivil/Structural Engineering, in particular relating to construction in a water-basedenvironment including site supervision, site management and budgetary provisionPossess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writingPossess knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Welfare issues associated with construction and maintenance worksBe computer literate and possess competence in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and IT based surveying equipment/engineering design toolsPossess excellent project management and problem-solving skillsDemonstrate experience of developing technical specifications, conditions ofcontract, tender documentation, procurement and framework contracts andmanaging large complex budgetsHave experience of working in a maintenance environmentBe a chartered member of a relevant Engineering InstitutionPossess a health and safety qualificationPossess an understanding of the environmental issues involved in the development of waterwaysDemonstrate experience of working with Trade UnionsPackageCompetitive Salary depending on Experience
