No Offer Description Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin: Post: Senior Research Assistant B School of Mechanical Engineering (Fixed term contract for up to 6 months) (Reference: 575/2025) Location: The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin Campuses i.e. Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght. Regular attendance at other sites will be required. Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation. Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of Senior Research Assistant Salary Scales in line with qualifications and experience i.e. €41,266 gross per annum. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy. Closing Date: 18th December 2025 at 5.00 p.m. (Irish time). Late applications will not be accepted. It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in the week beginning of 22nd January 2026. The interview assessment will be 45 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 7 minutes duration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria: A Master’s degree (NFQ Level 9) or equivalent award by an approved degree-awarding Authority. Evidence of familiarity with the subject matter and willingness to be/remain contemporaneous with the subject matter. Working knowledge of instrumental techniques and control theory, and implementation using the LABVIEW programme, used for characterisation, and a willingness to learn Understanding of data acquisition systems and thermofluids sensor technologies, and data acquisition/synchronisation. Proven familiarity with advanced electronic cooling techniques and wind-tunnel testing environments using autonomous control loops. Essential Criteria for a Senior Research Assistant A Master’s Degree (NQF L9) or equivalent in a relevant discipline OR Five years’ post-primary degree relevant research experience in the public or private sector Candidates will be shortlisted based on their demonstration of meeting every essential criterion so are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria. A PhD (NFQ Level 10) in a related field Hands‑on experience with experimental and mechanical tools in a laboratory setting. Familiarity with GLP conditions and laboratory safety protocols. Candidates may be shortlisted on the basis of none, one or more of these desirable criteria and are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria.
