About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality, recovery-focused Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to adults admitted to the in-patient mental health unit.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with service users, families/carers, and external agencies to support recovery, while maintaining high professional standards in documentation, confidentiality, and record keeping.
Key Responsibilities
* Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive OT assessments of occupational performance, function, and recovery needs, and plan and implement individualised treatment programmes using evidence-based, recovery-oriented approaches.
* Intervention and Support: Facilitate both individual and group interventions (e.g., life skills, creative therapy, social skills, sensory regulation), and support service users in developing skills for self-care, productivity, leisure, and community living.
* Discharge Planning: Contribute to discharge planning, including community liaison, home assessments, and activity-based recovery planning, ensuring a smooth transition to community care.
* Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with service users, families/carers, and external agencies to support recovery, and maintain effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
* A Bachelor/Masters degree in Occupational Therapy recognised by CORU.
* CORU registration.
* Experience (clinical placement or post-qualification) in mental health or related area.
* Desirable: Post-qualification experience in adult mental health (acute in-patient or community).
* Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
* Training in group facilitation, sensory approaches, or cognitive remediation.
* Experience in outcome measurement tools (e.g., MOHOST, COPM, OCAIRS).
