Job Description:
The Marlay Nursing Home have an opportunity for an Activities Coordinator to join our team on a permanent Relief basis. The Activities coordinator will report to the Activities Team Supervisor and will be working closely with residents to manage the activities. The role requires someone highly organized, strong communicator, taking an active role in prompting 'person centered best practice' in care of older adults with an emphasis on promoting resident autonomy and inclusive practice.
Main Role Responsibilities
Develop, implement and coordinate activities and recreational programmes based on the needs of the residents or participants
Develop care plans for residents tailored to their needs and requirements
Act as a 'change agent' in order to drive policy initiatives towards a more dementia friendly community by empowering staff members as 'change agents' to act in the role of dementia friendly champions.
Report allegations of resident abuse/neglect to the team supervisor
Coordinate community involvement in the facility
Maintain the confidentiality of all residents and family information
Any other general administrative duties as directed by the team supervisor.
Requirements
Leaving certificate or equivalent
Knowledge of change cultures and best practice in dementia care an advantage
* Medium level of computer proficiency including comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office essential
* Strong sense of initiative and a can-do attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
* Effective working relationships with residents, residents' families and employees at all levels of the organization
* Proven organizational and time management skills, strong attention to detail
* High level of personal resilience, able to remain highly effective and flexible
* Capable of working independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
* Proactively contribute to teamwork and cross-functional working
* Enthusiastic with a strong work ethic
* Self-motivated and driven
* Committed to promoting and maintaining high work standards.
