Environmental Scientist Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to join our team at Greenjobs Ltd. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing expertise in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for various projects.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
* Mid Level:
o Authoring chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments and other environmental projects.
o Input into design stage of various projects from an environmental aspect.
o Liaising with project teams and attendance at project meetings when required.
o Ensuring that the quality of deliverables is to a consistently high standard.
o Delivering exceptional client service, meeting deadlines, and ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice.
* Senior/Principal Level:
o Leading and managing environmental impact assessment projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
o Providing expert advice on environmental planning matters and collaborating with clients and stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.
o Conducting environmental audits to assess compliance with regulatory standards and identifying areas for improvement.
o Preparing and reviewing environmental reports, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
o Liaising with regulatory authorities and agencies to obtain necessary permits and licenses for project development.
o Mentoring and supporting junior staff members, providing guidance on environmental regulations and best practices.
o Staying abreast of developments in environmental legislation and industry trends.
o Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into project designs.
o Representing the company at client meetings, public consultations, and regulatory hearings.
o Contributing to business development activities, including proposal writing, client presentations, and networking events.
* Associate Level:
o Delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports.
o Taking ownership of projects from inception to completion and providing regular project updates.
o Project Lead on EIA projects involving multidisciplinary teams.
o Technical lead in a discipline related to EIA, e.g., ecology, noise, or air quality.
o Preparing planning applications, licenses, permits, and annual environmental reports.
o Prioritizing projects while balancing client expectations, available staff resources, and project deadlines.
o Proposal preparation and identifying follow-on work opportunities.
* Technical Director Level:
o Playing a key role in expanding and diversifying our offer in the water sector.
o Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
o Working with diverse environmental specialists, clients, and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
o Leading large, multiple, and complex projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.
o Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for marketing services and cross-selling.
o Securing new work, developing proposals, delivering strategic level bids, and undertaking business development opportunities.
o Driving performance improvement and career advancement opportunities across the team.
o Promoting an inclusive workplace and demonstrating an understanding of Health and Safety.
Requirements:
* A third-level qualification in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, or related fields.
* A minimum of 3 years post-graduate technical experience in fulfilling similar functions or in a similar role.
* An understanding of the Irish planning system.
* Experience working with EU and Irish environmental legislation.
* Comprehensive knowledge of EIAR and EPA Licensing regulations.
* Relevant environmental/planning degree or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery for major projects.
* Familiarity with other consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments, SSSI Assents.
* Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.
