Reporting to: Head of Risk
Location: Blackrock, Co. Louth
Role Summary
The Compliance & AML Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day compliance and anti-money laundering (AML/CFT) activities within the credit union. The role ensures that the credit union meets its legal and regulatory obligations and supports a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.
The CAMLO acts as the main point of contact for compliance and AML matters and works closely with staff and external regulators.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance

Ensure the credit union complies with the Credit Union Acts, Central Bank of Ireland regulations, and other relevant legislation.
Keep senior management informed of new or changing regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain an annual compliance plan and report regularly to the head of risk.
Maintain and review policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date and compliant.
Monitor internal systems and controls to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
Support and promote a strong compliance culture across the credit union.
Provide compliance guidance and training to staff and the board of directors when required.
Assist the Data Protection Officer with data protection policies and procedures.
Liaise with external bodies such as the Central Bank of Ireland, auditors, and other authorities when required.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML / CFT)

Manage the credit union’s AML/CFT framework across both branches.
Carry out and maintain the AML/CFT risk assessment.
Oversee customer due diligence, member identification, and ongoing monitoring.
Monitor transactions and investigate suspicious activity.
Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) where required.
Produce regular AML reports for senior management.
Keep up to date with AML/CFT legislation and regulatory guidance.
Provide AML/CFT training to staff and the board of directors.
Ensure audit and regulatory findings are addressed within agreed timelines.
Act as the main contact with regulators and law enforcement for AML matters.

Skills & Experience Required

Relevant qualification in compliance or financial services (e.g. ACOI, IOB, LIA, PRMIA).
3–5 years’ experience in compliance, AML, or a related role in financial services.
Good knowledge of credit union regulation and AML/CFT requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.

Job Details

One year contract with the possibility of extension, full-time role (Monday to Friday).
Based in Blackrock, Co. Louth.
