Meet the Team
The Product Development & Software Engineering team within the Technology division is responsible for the development of RTÉ’s digital products including RTÉ Player, and the RTÉ News app.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Test Engineer to join us in a key technical leadership role, providing strategic direction and hands‑on expertise to elevate the quality of RTÉ’s digital products.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the Test & QA team, championing best practices in software testing and automation
 * Define and evolve test strategies, frameworks, and processes to ensure high-quality delivery across RTÉ’s digital platforms
 * Lead the design and implementation of robust automated and manual test assets for APIs, Web, Mobile, Smart TV, and OTT applications
 * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle
 * Drive continuous improvement in test automation, including frameworks using Selenium with Java, JSON Path, Postman, and JDBC
 * Oversee defect management processes, ensuring timely identification, prioritization, and resolution of issues
 * Analyse client-side and server-side logs to validate functionality and performance
 * Advocate for a culture of quality, ensuring testing is integrated early and effectively in all development workflows
About You
 * Proven experience (5 yrs+) in a senior or lead testing role, with a strong track record of technical leadership and process improvement
 * Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and QA lifecycle
 * Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to guide others in root cause analysis
 * Expertise in automation tools and scripting, including Selenium with Java, Postman, JSON Path, and JDBC
 * Experience testing across multiple platforms: Web, Mobile Apps, Smart TVs, Set-Top Boxes, Chromecast, and other OTT devices
 * Familiarity with agile development practices and source control tools like Git
 * Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across teams

This appointment will be made at the Manager Grade 3 and is being offered on an ongoing fulltime contract basis. The salary range for this grade is from €50,285 to €84,381 gross per annum.
