Overview:
A global leader in advanced medical technology manufacturing is seeking an Extrusions Technician / Engineer to support operations at their high-capacity Galway site. This role is suited to technically strong individuals with a background in polymer processing particularly thermoplastic or silicone extrusions and experience in regulated manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities:
* Extrusion Process Support: Provide technical support across multiple extrusion lines, with a focus on optimizing equipment performance and material processing for medical-grade polymers.
* Hands-On Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve process issues, using data-driven root cause analysis to support continuous manufacturing uptime.
* Tooling and Material Interaction: Interface with tooling engineers and material suppliers to refine specifications and drive improved output quality and consistency.
* Documentation & Validation: Ensure robust technical documentation, including SOPs and validation reports, are created and maintained in compliance with industry standards.
* R&D & NPI Collaboration: Partner with New Product Introduction and R&D teams to influence early-stage design with manufacturing input and develop extrusion solutions for novel devices.
* Process Improvements: Lead and contribute to extrusion process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Qualifications:
* Education: Degree in Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
* Experience: 3+ years in an extrusion manufacturing environment (thermoplastic, fluoropolymer, or silicone), preferably within the medical device or regulated industry.
* Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of extrusion principles, tooling, and polymer behavior under process conditions.
* Communication & Documentation: Clear communicator with strong documentation skills and experience working cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, and Manufacturing.
