Job TitleProduction Design and Materials EngineerLocationMohill, Co Leitrim, IrelandAbout the RoleWe are seeking a practical and detail driven Production Design and Materials Engineer to join our growing engineering team.This is a hands on role focused on supporting real production.You will take ownership of production component drawings while also ensuring the correct materials and parts are available for manufacturing.Your work will directly support the workshop by helping maintain smooth production flow with fewer delays, fewer stock shortages, and better standardisation.This role sits between design, production, purchasing, and continuous improvement.A graduate may also be considered for this position.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction DesignCreate and maintain component drawings for productionUpdate and manage revisions of legacy partsEnsure drawings are clear, practical, and manufacturableStandardise common components where possibleSupport the workshop with technical queriesMaterials and Stock ManagementMonitor stock levels of production materials and componentsMaintain minimum stock levels for fast moving itemsTrack material usage and consumptionRaise and manage material purchase requirementsStay ahead of material demand based on production needsOrdering and Supplier CoordinationOrder raw materials such as bar, tube, plate, and bought in componentsCoordinate with suppliers to ensure correct specificationsWork with laser cutters and external suppliers when requiredEnsure materials are available before production beginsBOM and Component ControlMaintain accurate production BOMsLink drawings to materialsEnsure assemblies include all required componentsSupport planning by identifying material needs earlyProduction SupportAct as a technical link between office and workshopHelp resolve build issues quicklySuggest stock based alternatives where suitableImprove manufacturability of existing designsLean and SOP DevelopmentSupport the implementation of Lean practices across the factoryAssist in improving workflow and production efficiencyDevelop and maintain SOPs for manufacturing processesHelp standardise repeat tasks and production methodsEssential RequirementsProven SolidWorks experience is mandatoryStrong understanding of machined components and fabricationExperience working in a production environmentKnowledge of materials and manufacturing processesAbility to interpret and produce production ready drawingsDesirable ExperienceHydraulics or heavy engineeringProduction planningStock control systemsSupplier coordinationWhat Success Looks LikeProduction runs with fewer delaysStock is available when neededParts are standardisedDrawings are clear and usableEmergency material orders are reducedThis Role Would Suit Someone WhoEnjoys solving real production problemsWants to see their work builtIs structured and detail focusedPrefers practical engineering over theoryA graduate may also be considered for this position.Job Types: Full-time, GraduatePay: €40,000.00-€55,000.00 per yearWork Location: In person
