Job Description:
We are currently recruiting a Safety Officer to join our operations. This role will be based in Limerick and may involve travel to other locations within the region.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to health and safety compliance, conducting risk assessments, site inspections, incident investigations, and providing expert advice on best practices to ensure a safe working environment across all agency operations. This is an initial contract position for 6 months with potential for extension.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct regular site visits to identify potential hazards
* Ensure adherence to relevant health and safety legislation and regulations
* Develop and maintain accurate risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses thoroughly
* Deliver comprehensive training sessions on safety protocols and equipment usage
* Maintain vigilance regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) usage
* Foster close relationships with site managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies
* Keep meticulous records of site inspections, incidents, and safety reports
* Provide authoritative guidance on best practices for effective site safety management
* Promote a strong culture of safety awareness among staff members
Qualifications and Experience:
* A Level 7 qualification (National Framework of Qualifications) in Occupational Health and Safety is a minimum requirement. A Level 8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is highly desirable.
* No less than 3 years of satisfactory experience in construction work, accompanied by knowledge of construction methods, site management, and design processes.
* Experience in river or flood defence works would be advantageous.
* Possession of a valid SafePass Card.
* Valid driving license.
* Ability to utilize own transport.
