Windscreen Technician
We are seeking a skilled Windscreen Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive glazing and windscreen fitting, with knowledge of glass types, adhesives, and fitting techniques.
Job Purpose
To carry out the removal, fitting, and repair of windscreens and glazing on a variety of plant and heavy machinery such as excavators, diggers, telehandlers, bulldozers, and agricultural equipment.
The role involves working both on-site and in a workshop environment, delivering a professional and safe service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and replace windscreens, side and rear windows on plant machinery and agricultural equipment.
* Conduct assessments of glass damage and determine whether repair or replacement is needed.
* Ensure all fittings meet manufacturer and safety standards.
* Liaise with clients/customers on-site to deliver excellent service.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
* Operate within Health & Safety guidelines and company procedures at all times.
* Ensure tools, vehicles, and work areas are maintained in good condition.
* Travel to customer sites when required (van/tools provided).
* Occasionally assist in training junior staff or apprentices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience in automotive glazing or windscreen fitting (preferably plant or commercial vehicles).
* Full clean driving licence (Category B).
* Strong knowledge of glass types, adhesives, and fitting techniques.
* Ability to work independently and manage workload on the road or in the workshop.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
* Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
* CSCS ticket (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
* Experience with large plant/agricultural machinery or commercial vehicle glazing.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation related to construction/plant machinery.
* Familiarity with mobile repair units or field service work.
