As Senior Housekeeper, you will oversee and coordinate the housekeeping department, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standard. You will lead by example, inspect work, manage schedules, train staff, monitor inventory, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, supervise and manage housekeeping team: assign tasks, monitor performance, ensure coverage.
* Inspect guest rooms, suites, and public areas to ensure they meet the hotel's cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance standards.
* Oversee cleaning after check-outs and prepare rooms for check-ins.
* Ensure that linen, towels, guest amenities, cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stocked, stored and maintained.
* Carry out deep cleans and special tasks (e.g. spring cleaning, upholstery cleaning, carpets etc.).
* Report defects, maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly to relevant department(s).
* Liaise with front desk and maintenance departments to coordinate guest requests and ensure turnaround times are met.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and compliance with all relevant regulations.
* Train and mentor new and existing housekeeping staff, including setting standards and monitoring adherence.
* Prepare timetables/rota/shift schedules for housekeeping staff to ensure efficient coverage.
* Monitor budgets & cost control related to housekeeping supplies.
* Maintain records of housekeeping activities, audits/inspections, inventory, and staff attendance.
* Assist with lost & found procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in housekeeping in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 in a supervisory or lead role.
* Excellent eye for detail, organization and cleanliness.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
* Awareness of health & safety, hygiene regulations and best practice cleaning methods.
* Flexibility: willing to work different shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
* Physical stamina: ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and otherwise perform demanding manual work.
