We are urgently seeking a
CNM2 Anaesthetics and Recovery (Maternity Leave)
for a hospital in Cork Ireland.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical and operational leadership within the
Anaesthetics and Recovery Unit
, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Coordinate and manage daily activity within anaesthetic and post-anaesthesia care areas to ensure smooth patient flow.
Lead, supervise, and support nursing and support staff, promoting best practice and professional development.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIQA standards, infection prevention and control guidelines, and medication management protocols.
Oversee pre-operative assessment processes and ensure appropriate preparation of patients for anaesthesia.
Ensure safe monitoring and management of patients in the post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU), including airway management and pain control.
Maintain high standards of documentation, clinical handover, and incident reporting.
Collaborate closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff, and ward teams to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in audit, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Manage staff rostering, performance management, and workforce planning in line with service demands.
Requirements
Registered with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
Demonstrable commitment to Patient Safety and Quality standards.
Minimum of 5 years post-registration Theatre nursing experience (essential).
Up-to-date knowledge and practical experience of contemporary Theatre practices.
Detailed knowledge and clinical experience in Anaesthetics and Recovery practices.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a people management role.
Proven leadership and change management skills.
Excellent knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and clinical skills.
Strong decision-making ability with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
