Health & Safety Officer
OCC Construction, a well-established main contractor based in Galway, is currently seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance across residential and commercial projects in the West of Ireland.

Role Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, ISO ***** standards, and OCC's IMS.
Lead site audits, inspections, and risk assessments across multiple active sites.
Oversee incident investigations and corrective action reporting.
Drive continuous improvement of the QEHS management system and ensure it is fully integrated across the business.
Coach and mentor site teams and project managers in best safety practices and legislative compliance.
Manage safety training frameworks and workforce certification processes.
Support the Site Manager and Project Manager in fulfilling their safety responsibilities
Report regularly to senior leadership on safety KPIs, legal compliance, and strategic risks.
Key requirements
Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Health & Safety role (preferably construction).
Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g. Diploma, Degree, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of Irish construction safety legislation and industry Codes of Practice.
Experience with ISO ***** systems and permit-to-work processes.
Familiarity with Hammertech, Procore, or similar systems an advantage (training also provided)
Ability to conduct audits, deliver training, and communicate effectively on-site.
Confident in liaising with the HSA and external bodies when required.
Strong attention to detail, proactive mindset, and a collaborative approach.
Full clean Irish driving licence essential.
