Data Networks and Telecoms Engineer-Grade VII Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours. The Data Networks and Telecoms Engineer is responsible for supporting the hospitals data networks (Wired/Wireless) and telecommunications systems. This role ensures seamless and secure communication within the hospitals digital infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, VoIP systems, and other communication technologies. This role will require managing third party relationships in the provision of these services. Part of the role will be monitor the security of the data / telecoms. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Network Design and Implementation: Working with third parties in the continuous improvements on the infrastructure, working to design, configure, and implement data networks, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Collaborate with ICT team internally and HSE to create network solutions that support National/ Regional/ Local operations and patient care. Deploy and maintain wired and wireless networks across the hospital premises. Telecommunications Systems: Manage the contract of Telecoms providers and Data Networks providers ensuring best of class service and value for money. Manage both Legacy/Voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems and ensure uninterrupted communication services. Integrate telecommunication systems with other hospital technologies for streamlined operations. Troubleshoot and resolve telecommunication-related issues promptly. Network Security: Implement and maintain robust network security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access working with the ICT team in delivering this requirement. Conduct regular security audits and update security protocols. Monitor network traffic for unusual activities and respond to security incidents. System Optimization and Maintenance: Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimise system performance. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including software updates, hardware upgrades, and system patches. Collaborate with vendors for technical support and issue resolution. Disaster Recovery and Redundancy: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure network availability during critical situations. Configure redundant systems and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime in case of network failures. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures. Enabling reporting of usage and performance of the network / telecom services Generate regular reports on network performance, usage, and security incidents. Provide insights and recommendations based on analytical reports. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with other ICT teams, hospital staff, and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues. Provide technical support to hospital staff, ensuring efficient use of network and telecommunication resources.
