Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer Location: Ireland (Galway hybrid preferred; or remote within Ireland considered) Overview A growing technology company is seeking a Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer to take hands-on ownership of its platform infrastructure and deployment tooling. This is a senior individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibility, working closely with senior technical leadership on platform decisions. The focus of the role is building, operating, and improving production systems - with an emphasis on reliability, observability, and operational simplicity. Responsibilities Own and operate Kubernetes-based environments across development, demo, and customer deployments Improve reliability, performance, and upgradeability of existing infrastructure Design and maintain deployment patterns suitable for bare-metal and air-gapped environments Enhance CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and environment consistency Implement and maintain observability (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting) Debug production issues across application and infrastructure layers Contribute to platform architecture decisions and operational standards Document deployment patterns and operational practices Requirements Essential: Strong, hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production Experience supporting and upgrading long-lived systems Proven ability to improve reliability and performance of distributed systems Comfortable working with infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling (e.g. Helm, CI/CD) Pragmatic, curious approach to problem-solving Desirable: Experience with bare-metal or air-gapped Kubernetes deployments Observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) Experience with search, analytics, or workflow platforms Exposure to GPU or ML-adjacent infrastructure Experience in non-hyperscaler environments Working Style Majority hands-on engineering (~75%) Low-bureaucracy environment with close collaboration across engineering Emphasis on operational stability, supportability, and predictable upgrades Why Apply This role offers real ownership and impact, with the opportunity to shape and improve a production platform while remaining hands-on.
