Bid Manager Job Overview
This role is focused on overseeing the tendering process for energy-related projects, from initial qualification to submission. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the energy industry, particularly in renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
The successful Bid Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end tendering process, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, competitive bids that align with business objectives. This involves coordinating with various departments, understanding client requirements, preparing compelling proposals, and fostering client relationships to secure new business opportunities within the Irish market.
Responsibilities:
* Tender Management and Preparation:
o Lead the tendering process for energy-related projects, from initial qualification to submission.
o Analyse tender documents and customer requirements, assessing opportunities, feasibility, risks, and potential for the company.
o Develop comprehensive and competitive bids, proposals, and pricing structures to maximise profitability while meeting client expectations.
o Ensure compliance with all technical, financial, legal, and regulatory standards required within the Irish energy industry.
* Collaboration and Coordination:
o Work closely with engineering, project management, finance, procurement, administration and legal teams to gather input for bid proposals.
o Coordinate with external suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather accurate data and cost estimates.
o Act as a liaison between clients, consultants, and the internal team to ensure clear communication and expectations alignment.
* Market and Industry Analytics:
o Conduct market research and competitor analysis to keep abreast of industry trends and identify new opportunities.
o Analyse market conditions, identify tender opportunities in the Irish energy market, and work proactively to develop strategies to secure contracts.
* Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
o Assess and manage risks associated with tender proposals, including financial, legal, operational, and environmental factors.
* Client Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders within the energy industry.
* Documentation and Reporting:
o Ensure governance is followed in line with client's project delivery process.
o Ensure all bid documentation is accurate, complete, and meets the client's requirements and deadlines.
Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
* Experience: 7+ years of experience in tendering, proposals, or project management within the energy or utilities sector, ideally within the Irish or EU market.
* Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the energy industry, specifically in renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word. Familiarity with tendering software and CRM tools.
* Financial Acumen: Ability to prepare accurate and competitive pricing and financial models.
* Project Management: Strong organisational and project management skills, with experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder bids.
* Negotiation and Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
