Scope of Role
The ICT Services Team at Intact designs, builds, and supports the infrastructure that powers our ERP solutions across customer environments. As a Senior IT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering, securing, and optimising enterprise-class infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud platforms
You will act as a senior technical point of escalation, lead on complex deployments, and support customers in achieving resilience through proactive monitoring, disaster recovery planning, and modern security practices.
This role is based at Intact HQ in Dundalk, with approx. 50% of time onsite at customer locations. A full clean driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the deployment, administration, and support of:
Operating Systems & Infrastructure
· Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
· Microsoft Windows 10/11 client operating systems
· Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
· Windows Server Remote Desktop Services
· Hyper-V & VMware virtualisation platforms
Cloud & Collaboration Technologies
· Microsoft 365 administration & security (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune)
· Microsoft Azure and AWS (IaaS, PaaS, identity, networking, backup, and disaster recovery)
· Hybrid environment integration and migration projects
Security & Monitoring
· Endpoint protection, detection, and response solutions
· IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) planning, testing, and execution
· Email and collaboration security services
· Enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms (e.g. Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios)
· VPN and firewall management, including SonicWall, Draytek, and Ubiquiti solutions
· Vulnerability management, patching, and compliance reporting
Networking & Hardware
· LAN/WAN design, configuration, and troubleshooting
· Wi-Fi infrastructure (enterprise-class solutions, including Ubiquiti)
· Deployment of servers, storage, desktops, mobile devices, barcode scanners, and printers
Database & Applications
· Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and later – installation, configuration, high availability, backup and recovery, performance tuning
· Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, and hybrid database solutions
Knowledge and Experience
* Degree or advanced qualification in Computer Systems, Networking, or related IT discipline
* 5+ years' experience in IT systems engineering or consultancy
* Proven track record with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud platforms
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and security
* Expertise in enterprise networking, VPNs, and firewall technologies (SonicWall, Draytek, Ubiquiti)
* Experience with enterprise monitoring/observability platforms (Zabbix or alternatives)
* Hands-on knowledge of modern security solutions including EDR and ITDR
* Strong expertise in SQL Server and cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
* Experience designing, testing, and delivering ITDR and business continuity solutions
* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across infrastructure, cloud, and security

* Able to lead complex technical discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Self-driven, with excellent organisational and documentation skills
* Able to mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers
