We are looking for an experienced and qualified HGV Mechanic to join our team in Kildare.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality diagnostics, repairs, and routine preventative maintenance on all vehicles.
Inspect vehicles and follow up on issues reported in daily driver checks, identifying and fixing unexpected faults in line with manufacturer and technical standards.
Respond to roadside or on-site breakdowns, carrying out rapid fault-finding and repairs.
Complete and maintain accurate service, maintenance, and inspection records.
Ensure the workshop, yard, and all working areas remain safe, tidy, and well-organized.
Proactively highlight potential safety hazards and take action to resolve them.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including company policies, RSA requirements, and other regulatory guidelines.
Support and engage with the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
Collaborate closely with the transport/operations team, providing updates to help ensure vehicle availability for scheduled work and customer commitments.
Provide guidance, technical support, and mentoring to fellow technicians and apprentices.
Requirements
Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar mechanical or heavy-vehicle environment.
National Craft Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (SOLAS), Advanced Craft Certificate (FETAC Level 6), or an equivalent qualification.
Full Irish Category B driving licence (essential).
Category C or CE licence (desirable but not required).
Strong diagnostic, repair, and maintenance skills, with the ability to work to manufacturer and technical standards.
Ability to respond to vehicle faults, breakdowns, and urgent maintenance needs.
Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Flexible and willing to take part in on-call cover when required.
Eligible to work in Ireland.
Good communication skills with strong written and spoken English.
Ability to work effectively as part of a transport or workshop team.
